I have just fallen in love with FredFlare.com. I know it’s been around for a while, but I haven’t really checked it out until recently. It is an online store based in New York where you can buy clothes, accessories, and things for your home. My favorites are the quirky accessories, and the items in the “at home” section of the site. The clothes are also really cute, but it’s hard to know if something will fit you when you buy it online, and I don’t live in New York, where they just opened their first brick and mortar boutique. I like it so much that I have decided to show you a few of my favorite things each day from the site. So check back every day for the next few days to see what I’ve chosen!
Here’s today’s picks. Which are your favorites?

Urban Outfitters has been making free playlists that would be great for your summer plane ride, road trip, or just relaxing at home. I am always looking to discover new music, and these playlists are a great chance to do that. I downloaded all five of them onto a playlist on my iPod, and have found some pretty cool songs so far. I have only listened to the first one, but will definitely tell you my thoughts once I am done listening to all 107 songs. Check it out by clicking on the photo above! Comment and tell me which ones are your favorites.

Rhapsody
I have just discovered Rhapsody’s “Free Song of the Day” feature. On iTunes, the free songs of the week are usually not from well-known artists, which is really cool because it helps us to discover new artists. But on Rhapsody, this summer they are featuring more popular songs. Yesterday’s song was Bryan Adams’ “Summer of ’69″ and on July 17th the free download was Katy Perry’s “Waking up in Vegas.” I don’t know about you, but this is definitely a site that I will be checking up on this summer.

In Fall 2009 we are going to become even more saturated in the trends of the 80’s. Neon is going to be the color scheme of choice. Marc Jacobs has neon jackets, Alexander McQueen has super-bright accessories, and even Givenchy, Paul Smith, and Michael Kors are following the bright-colored trend. But you don’t have to wear it head-to-toe. If you want the trend to be more street-friendly, try wearing a few bright pieces at a time to avoid blinding people.

Off-the shoulder dresses are coming back as well. More designers than can be named are going for this look. To name a few, Alexander Wang, Chloe, and Oscar de la Renta are all showing collections with one-shouldered dresses that are amazingly beautiful. There is just something about showing one shoulder that can make you feel like a million dollars. The look just screams, “I’m too fashion-forward to show both of my shoulders.”

Another trend coming back is the Michael Jackson look of the 80’s. Around the time that his super-successful album Thriller came out, he was into wearing matching red or black leather pants and jacket, with a glove and sunglasses. Sunglasses have already been a trend of the streets for a while, but leather pants and statement-making gloves are on their way back. Designers like Charlotte Ronson, Alexander Wang, and Rag&Bone are all telling us that leather is making its comeback. Anyone can now wear this fabric that used to be just for rock stars and celebrities. Noticeable gloves are also coming back with designers Anna Sui, Richard Chai, and even Erin Fetherston. Gloves are becoming an elegant way to put the finishing touch on a little black dress (or to hide chipped nail polish).
